Sometimes the file-name and extension of a program is so long that you 
can't remember. What's more, you want to launch it by a customized 
abbreviation, such as "cmd" stands for "Command Line Prompt". This

For example, how to create a new program alias named cmp that stands for 
Computer Management.

   1. Open the Start menu and select Run. Type regedit in the Run dialog
      box and click OK.

   2. Take creating the cmp.exe as an example. The Registry Editor 
      appears. Create a sub-key named cmp.exe under the following key: 
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths.

   3. In the right pane, right-click on the Default value and select 
      Modify.

   4. Type C:\Windows\system32\compmgmt.msc in the Value data text field
      and click OK to complete the operation.

   5. Open the Start menu and select Run. Type cmp in the Run dialog box
      and press Enter. Because the cmp is the program alias that stands 
      for Computer Management, so you can open the Computer Management.
