RPG Maker for PlayStation 1 (PS1/PSX) Tips by TheOuterLinux (https://theouterlinux.gitlab.io) Last updated: 2025/07/25 If you are planning to emulate a PS1 using something like DuckStation or PCSXR, set Controller 1 to use "Digital" controls instead of "Analog"; otherwise, the DPad and/or Analog stick may not work while in the "RPG Maker" menu. To more easily draw sprites and other resources, set Controller 2 to be a "PlayStation Mouse." However, mouse speeds are not smooth. To deal with this, try one of the following... A. Change the screen resolution to that of what an actual PS1 would expect and set the emulator to be full-screen. B. Change the mouse movement speed. If you are a bit more artistic than most and have limited on USB ports, you could set Controller 1 to use a keyboard and have Controller 2 set to a "PlayStation Mouse," except perhaps instead of a mouse, try a drawing tablet if you can properly set it up for tablet touch as a left-click and some other button as a right-click, which is often used as the color "eye-dropper" for drawing canvas areas.
